Spanish Town native Vancreed is hoping to capitalise on the reposting of one of his mixing videos by international superstar Nicki Minaj.

Vancreed recently participated in Nicki Minaj's #MegatronChallenge on Instagram. Through the challenge, Nicki Minaj is seeking to identify a possible official remix for her latest single, Megatron, which samples Jamaica's Mr Vegas' 1998 hit Heads High. She will also be giving away US$16,000 in prize money.

Vancreed took the challenge and his video was later reposted on the artiste's official Instagram with a few other fan favourites.

"It's exhilarating and I'm grateful for the love and exposure from Nicki Minaj," Vancreed told THE STAR.

"I wasn't even doing it to get reposted or to enter the competition. I just was inspired with an idea and just went with it and had fun. But this will definitely bring exposure and motivation for me to continue doing what I am doing," he added.

Vancreed, whose given name is Vandeleer Palmer, has been dabbling with music for as long as he could remember. His first love, the keyboard, remains his best friend; as he develops on his musical ingenuity, however, his preferred choice of instrument depends on the purpose he's trying to achieve.

Currently building and remixing beats from the comfort of his brothers' basement studio in Kingston, Palmer, who goes by the name Vancreed, grew up in a household filled with musical talent.

"I come from a musical background, which is my family. My parents love music, and being the youngest of my siblings, I grew up watching them do music, so I just learnt from them, observe them. I love listening to music as well," Vancreed told THE STAR.

His dynamic nature and true passion for what he does allows the young talent to produce and even remix various dancehall and reggae beats, while still feeling things out and figuring out what he loves.

Vancreed, whose ultimate goal is to become a producer, has been using softwares such as FL Studio to showcase his talent on Instagram.

Vancreeds' videos generally feature an energetic performance, where he 'rocks to the beat' while manipulating his production software and keyboard, or even his saxophone. He has reproduced beats for famous songs such as Bob Marley's The Heathen and Shenseea's Shenyeng Anthem. In addition to this, Vancreed has also remixed a few popular beats such as the 'All Night Riddim' by famous Jamaican producer Jordan McClure of Chimney Records, along with a few of his own creative pieces.
