DJ 3D makes production debut

Known for piloting the party experience for several years, DJ 3D is adding the producer title to his brand, with the release of his debut project, ' Summer Wine', recorded by Konshens.

The sultry track is a revamped effort from its original release in 2017, which formed part of the Pure Heart rhythm, co-produced with his father, Renaissance disco principal, Delano Thomas.

"It was a different production then and featured other artistes like Shenseea, but the whole juggling project had to stop because we didn't know how to properly release it as a team," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. "Delano has his own way of releasing music which is the older way of doing it and at the time I was kind of learning how to properly publish a track so the project stopped from disagreements between us and the artistes as well."

He said that the re-release was inspired out of a business relationship he developed with Konshens, "and this is the first track out of many that we will be releasing to break the ice for my 3D Music label".

Pop influence

Summer Wine offers a hybrid feel of dancehall and hip hop, with a burst of pop influence, all signature elements of his production outfit.

"Anything that comes out of my camp is not going to be the regular dancehall. It's going to be dancehall with heavy pop influence paired with that authentic, Jamaican old school reference," the 27 year old said.

One could describe DJ 3D's affinity for music as inborn, and his venture into production inevitable, with his family members being players in the field. He said he prefers the producer hat.

"Deejaying is great, but production is you building something from your heart, from your soul so other people can listen to it. It's a more intimate experience than playing music," he said.
