As crime and violence continue to plague Jamaica with deaths and injuries, dancehall artistes Navino and Jay-A have recorded a therapeutic track, ' Pain Smile', which they hope will help people cope with grief.

The Sponge Music-produced song speaks of losing a friend to violence, which Jay-A and Navino relate to.

"It can help people cope with grief and give them hope that no matter what, one day we will smile again, no matter how much we go through. Jay-A was playing the beat and we started vibing and I kept saying 'smiling through the pain' on it, because at the time, I just lost a friend who was very close to me. Dexta Daps was there also and was like, 'Yo, that's the song, don't change that,'" Navino said.

Navino and Jay-A stated that it's full time the crime and violence ends because eventually, everyone loses.

"We just need reasoning ability to resolve any conflict between each other; we should never resort to violence. We, as a nation, need to rise up and unite as one," Jay-A said.

Jay-A got his big break with the collaboration Pain, featuring Mavado and Dexta Dap, which was produced by Sponge Music. Navino has been staying consistent since his breakout with Chilling Time.
