Rick Star aims to make his mark

Up-and-coming dancer Rick Star is hoping to make his mark in the music industry. According to the protEgE of John Bling, he is working

overtime make a name for himself.

"Me love dancing, that is why I choose dancing as my job. right now, I am promoting a new dance with John Bling called Get Wid It, and we also have a next one called Knee Dem. I am bringing vibes and love to the table, and I am constantly working to improve my craft," he told Dancers Paradise.

The dancer, who was featured in a Bogle tribute spearheaded by the THE STAR in 2014, says his career is relatively young. However, he has been receiving some amount of exposure in Caribbean islands.

"I haven't gone to Europe as yet, but shows are coming up in the small islands. Yuh done know sey yuh haffi start somewhere, so me and Bling a do the rounds in Jamaica first, then we take on the world step by step," he said.

Like many contemporary

performers, Rick Star has chosen social media as a platform to expose his talent to a wider market. He also says the response on social media is generally favourable.

"People all over the world always love my dance moves, I read every comment and they are always asking me to perform in their country," he said.

Rick Star also gave credit to John Bling for his role in his development.

"I have known John Bling all my life, but I just decided to take dancing

serious for the last five years. John see the potential and sey 'youth yuh bad and yuh have style and swag and people drawn to them thing deh,' so from that, mi tek it 100 per cent," he told Dancers' Paradise.

The dancer also lauded local selectors and dancers for facilitating a return of dancing to the dancehall. According the dancer, the entertainment scene is a happy place when dancing is involved.
