Some artistes are of the view that they are not role models to children and should only be seen as mere entertainers.

However STAR of The Month, I-Octane, does not subscribe to that view.

According to the singjay, words are powerful tools.

"The Bible tell yu bout the players of instruments and the power of words, when you add melody to it and it gets contagious to the mind. People will gravitate to you, so whether or not you think you are a role model, you are, because you influence people all over the world," he said.

I-Octane also said artistes should be able to take criticism once it is constructive, instead of allowing themselves to travel down a path of destruction due to ego.

"You have elders in the business who were there before you, so you must can hear too and pay attention. It's not every time somebody is going to say something that you want to hear, but it is up to you to go back to the drawing board and apply it to your life, if you see where it's necessary," he said.

I-Octane said it's nowadays "artiste start get up in dem feelings like woman."

"Back in the day, an elder tell you something, it up to you if yu wah vex bout it. Producers like Steelie and Cleevie run out the biggest set a artiste outta dem studio and tell dem come back in three months," he said.

I-Octane is set to perform at Best of The Best 2017 slated for May.
