Jcan held for murder in US
A Jamaican was detained in Westchester County, New York, roughly 20 years after being accused of murdering a golfer. He now faces life in prison.
Charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon is Michael 'Gifton' Cousins.
According to the Bronxville Daily Voice, Cousins was working as a caddy at a golf course in the country. It is reported that on September 12, 1996, he got into a dispute with his 23-year-old victim, and it later turned physical. Following the dispute, the now deceased was stabbed in the chest. He later died.
The accused man fled the United States for Jamaica, but was only discovered by US authorities earlier this year.
Cousins returns to court on December 2, at which point he will learn if he will be sentenced to a minimum of 25 years.
