Dancehall artiste Dexta Daps has been freed of all criminal charges brought against him for an incident that took place at the Sangster International Airport back in April, The STAR has learnt.

The entertainer, whose real name is Louis Grandison, was charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, resisting arrest and using indecent language, but was freed of the charges when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. His driver and co-accused Essan Richards was also freed.

When the STAR spoke to Dexta Daps' attorney, Peter Champagnie, he revealed that the matter was resolved after a consultation between the prosecution and the accused.

"There was a brief discussion between both parties after which the prosecution announced it would not continue with the hearing and that all parties opted for mediation," he explained.

On April 27, Dexta Daps was arrested at the Sangster International Airport, following a scuffle between himself, Richards and a group of police officers. Dexta Daps and the cops reportedly got into the scuffle after the singer intervened in the ticketing of his driver, who was parked in a no- parking zone at the airport. Videos of the incident went viral on social media.
