Teen shot in head in Tivoli
The West Kingston police detained two teenagers for questioning and have launched a probe into how a 16-year-old girl died yesterday, after she was shot in the head in West Kingston.
Information reaching our news team is that an illegal firearm, a nine-millimetre containing several live rounds, was also retrieved from the premises located on Sangsters Crescent in Tivoli Gardens, Kingston 14.
THE STAR understands that the incident took place about 12:40 p.m. and that a third teen is also being sought.
Sources close to the investigation suspect the teenagers were playing with the illegal weapon in a bedroom when it
discharged.
Reports are that the
mother of the deceased teen left her at the home of a relative.
THE STAR gathered that loud explosions were heard and the police were summoned. Relatives later discovered that the girl, whose name is being withheld, was badly bleeding.
Closer observation revealed that she had a gun shot wound to the head.
The Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) confirmed the reports, and told THE STAR that investigations are ongoing.
