Rape accused granted bail

December 07, 2017

Omar Jones, a 30-year-old security guard who was charged with grievous sexual assault and raping a 16-year-old girl was granted bail when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday.

It is alleged that on November 17, Jones penetrated the teenager's vagina with a body part other than his penis in the Waltham Park community in Kingston.

It is also alleged that Jones had non-consensual sex with the schoolgirl. He was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.

While Presiding Judge Judith Pusey was granting him bail, she said: "I hope you don't do it because these allegations are nasty."

His bail conditions prevent him from coming within 100 feet of the complainant. He was also ordered not to visit the community where the incident allegedly happened.

He is to return to court on January 12.
