Sixty-four-year-old Clive Hughes died in a bar on Lower Harbour Street in Falmourh about 11 a.m. yesterday.

The bartender, who requested that her name be withheld, told THE STAR: "Him (Hughes) come in yah and ask fi a drink a wata. Mi give him it, and him drink some and go inna di restroom. One next man go in deh and see him liddung. Mi call de fireman dem. Dem come and say him dead."

The scene was processed by the police, and then the body was removed by undertakers from Lyn's Funeral Home.

THE STAR spoke with Hughes' wife, Beverly, who barely had time to come to terms with his sudden passing.

"He is a vendor from Thompson Town in southern Trelawny. He sells groceries in the market, and was not sick," she said.

She also said that she and Hughes did small farming in upper Trelawny where they grew yam and other ground provisions.

Superintendent Winston Milton of the Trelawny police confirmed the report of a man dying in a bar.

"We do not have the details, but can confirm the death," he said.
