Man charged with shooting death of 'Swaine' at St James party
A 36-year-old farmer has been charged by the St James police for allegedly fatally shooting 36-year-old Aswaine Thompson, otherwise called 'Swaine', in the head at a party in the Hampton district in the parish.
Ryan Bernard, a farmer of Retirement Gutters in St James is charged with murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.
The Granville police report that about t 4:30 a.m. on March 8, Thompson, who is also from the parish, and Bernard were among patrons at a party in the community.
Bernard reportedly opened gunfire at Thompson as he sat in a car, hitting him in the head.
He then fled the scene.
Thompson was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations led to Bernard's arrest at his home on Monday.
He was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
