Several arrested in ongoing MOCA operations in three parishes

As the targeted operations by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) in three parishes continues several persons have been arrested, according to law enforcement agencies.

The operations are related to the $47.5 million phishing scam uncovered at the National Commercial Bank (NCB), sources have told The STAR.

However, the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), which is leading the operations, has declined to comment on the latest developments.

"We can confirm that MOCA agents did conduct a number of operations at several locations this morning. At this point, however, we are not willing to say much else about the nature of the operations," said Major Basil Jarrett, director of communications at MOCA.

"The public will be provided with an update in due course," he added.

MOCA disclosed, in a public statement released early Thursday, that the operations were being conducted in Whitehall Terrace, Kingston Gardens, Seaview Gardens, Tavern, all in Kingston and St Andrew, as well as in Longville Park, Clarendon.

The targets of the operations are linked to a "major investigation" being conducted by MOCA, the agency said.
