It was all laughs and smiles as the parents of Sae'breon Hutton were ecstatic on Friday, when they finally received the opportunity to meet Tamar Blake, the woman whose alertness assisted them in locating their newborn who was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in January.

Blake, who will be receiving a Badge of Honour for Gallantry on National Heroes Day, was also beaming with joy as she got the opportunity to hold baby Sae'breon for the first time.

"This is such an ecstatic moment. It is like it's all coming together seeing the mommy, daddy and baby," said Blake at a meeting at The Gleaner's offices in Kingston, which was facilitated by this newspaper.

The child's father, Sinclair Hutton, told THE STAR that since the incident, they have always wanted to meet with Blake.

"Finally. Nothing never happen before the time," he said.

The family was elated when they heard the news that Blake will be receiving a national honour.

"She shoulda get it long time," said Sae'breon's mother, Suzette Whyte.

Baby Sae'breon, now seven months old, was also a picture of glee the entire time as Blake played with him. The two seem to have formed a bond and the parents are very pleased.

"I really have a soft spot for him because I love babies. They always gravitate towards me and he is one of my very special babies, given the trauma that he has been through since birth. And to see him thriving like this now is just a good feeling," Blake said.

The baby was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital on January 9, hours after he was born, by Petagay Ffrench. A month later, Ffrench was arrested after she attempted to register the child as hers at the Registrar General's Department (RGD) in Twickenham Park, St Catherine.

Reunited

Blake's actions led to the child being united with the parents. Ffrench has since pleaded guilty to child-stealing.

"I want to say I thank her very much because if it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have him; and she really did a good job," the father said.

Since the incident, the family has become very vigilant and has kept baby Sae'breon in their sights at all times.

"Everything has been great at home and everybody is happy for us, and we plan to tell him about the accident when he gets older so he doesn't go on the road to hear it," the parents told THE STAR.
