Tactikal recounts frightening emergency landing in Cuba

Dancehall artiste Tactikal has described his experience aboard Swoop Flight WO646 from Toronto, Canada , en route to Kingston, Jamaica, last Tuesday as frightening as the flight made an emergency landing in Cuba.

"Remember a inna the air that, so you know me just start think all kinds a things and just start pray instantly," Tactikal said. The Brawlin deejay, who was returning home from his Canada tour where he had been since last September, said he was seated close to the back of the aircraft but maintained his composure throughout the entire ordeal. He said death never crossed his mind.

"[Mi] just did a pray the plane land. Me just a wait to touch ground and a keep a positive thought," he shared.

The plane deviated from its route because of a fuel leak. Tactikal said crew members informed passengers that the captain had an announcement to make.

"So that's how we were alerted, then [we] heard the pilot saying we have to do an emergency landing," he recalled. The captain made the announcement mid-air when the flight was close to Cuba.

"I recall he said the plane carries two engines but it can fly on one, so he's going to turn off one of them to conserve fuel and do an emergency landing in Cuba," he added. Tactikal said that when the plane arrived in Cuba, passengers were confused about their next move.

"We never a hear if we going to get a next plane or when we would leave Cuba, until way down in the night we got some news saying they are going to put us up in hotels till the next day. We left the next day," he said.
