Principal for the St Mary High School, Mrs Jullett Frazer-Sadaar is breathing a sigh of relief following today’s bomb scare at the institution, and is reminding Jamaicans of the age-old proverb, ‘what’s joke to you, is death to me’.

Earlier today, students were prohibited from entering the school campus after threats of a bomb being placed in the cafeteria were sent out to various members of the administration.

“They created some amount of tension. The fact that student’s came to school and couldn’t access the campus is troubling. It really robs everybody of productivity time,” the principal said.

According Sadaar, the threats came about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, approximately 12 hours before grade 11 students were to sit the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) physics and computer science examinations.

“I have to thank the Jamaica Defence Force, and the Jamaica Constabulary Force. They did their jobs, and we were able to get the students in and started on time,” she said.

As of the writing of this story, the police had no official report on the matter, but Saadar explained that nothing major came up during the investigation, and she is trusting the authorities to continue handling the situation.

“To our young people, when I was growing up, the popular saying was what’s joke to you, is death to me. We need to be a little more focused on what is progressive, and work on being sensitive to others. Our exam students really didn’t need this stress,” she said.
