Motorist, passenger arrested following gun find

The St Elizabeth police arrested two persons, a man and woman, after an illegal firearm and ammunition were found in the vehicle they were travelling in along the Holland Bamboo main road on Wednesday.

According to the police, about 1:30 p.m., lawmen were on patrol in the area when they saw a Toyota Axio motorcar driving along the roadway with a woman aboard.

The driver was signalled to stop— he complied.

The driver and the woman were searched, and during the search of the vehicle, the weapon was seen hidden under the cup holder.

Both the driver and the woman were taken into custody in connection with this seizure; however, their identities are been withheld pending further investigation.
