Following the news of an 11-day-old baby being abducted from the compounds of the Kingston Public Hospital, new details continue to emerge on how the incident unfolded.

The STAR understands the main suspect, a woman, had befriended the parents of the missing child before carrying out the act.

According to police reports, the baby was stolen from its mother, 26-year Christiana Blake, at about 10:00 am at the hospital where she had gone to seek medical treatment.

Blake, who uses a wheelchair, was accompanied to the hospital by her partner, Kevin Robe. On completion of her treatment, Robe left the baby in Blake's care to go purchase food.

Blake was then approached by a woman who offered to assist her with the baby.

The suspect, who the police have described as about 5 feet six inches tall, brown complexion, and appears to be in her thirties, then left with the baby, despite Blake's attempts to stop her.

An alarm was raised after she did not return.

Meanwhile, Regional Director of the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), Errol Greene told The STAR that the hospital has also provided the police with camera footage of the incident to aid in their investigation.
