Protest in Little London over alleged police killing

Disgruntled residents in Little London in Westmoreland intensified continued to protest on Monday morning over the alleged police killing of two teenage boys.

The protesters used down trees, old appliances, tires and other debris to block the road staring late Sunday night into the morning.

The road block was mounted in close proximity to the Little London Police Station and impended the normal flow of traffic between Negril and Savanna La Mar.

According to the protesting residents, 14-year-old Tyreke Smith and 19-year-old Javian Black, were allegedly killed after being chased by a police service vehicle.

The STAR understands that the alleged police chase ensued after the teenage boys drove their motorbikes to a shop, and refused to obey a police's request to stop.

However, a senior police officer from the Westmoreland Police Division The STAR on Monday that there were no police chases. Furthermore, he claims the police vehicle assigned to the Little London station that is alleged to have chase had not left the compound up to the time of the incident. 

He is reporting that the teenagers were in an accident and the police were quick on the scene and took them to the Savanna-La-Mar Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
