The sweet treat of bun and cheese is no longer just available at your local bakery, supermarket or wholesale but can now be found in your ice cream.

This is because the renowned hotspot for everybody's favourite frozen treat, Devon House I-scream has added a new bun and cheese flavour, dumbing it a 'twist of tradition'. David Radlein, chief marketing officer of Devon House's operator, Scoops Un-Limited Limited, told THE STAR that the flavour was added on Sunday just in time for Easter after multiple trials and tests to develop the perfect formula.

"Coming in to Easter people always love bun and cheese so the thought was why not just make a bun and cheese ice cream? A lot of the times when you're eating bun and cheese, you drink milk with it, so why not combine them all of it together?" Radlein said, adding that the new flavour has tiny pieces of bun, raisins and Tastee cheese in its mixture.

When THE STAR visited Devon House in St Andrew during lunch hour, the lines were full and almost two out of three buckets of the new flavour were empty. One customer who was trying the flavour for the first time told THE STAR that it was "excellent" and she was looking forward to having it again.

"It literally taste like you're eating bun and cheese with milk. Honestly, it's really good and mi can see mi self a buy it again" said Patricia Marshall. Similarly, when Kimberley Clarke, an avid lover of bun cheese, saw a post about the new flavour on Instagram, she knew she just had to have it. She told the news team that she was pleasantly surprised by the new flavour and believes "they got it right."

"I like it. I give it a nine out of 10, you get a lot of cheese. I never expected to get so much cheese and the bun not dry. I thought the bun would have been dry and it's not soggy either; it tastes like regular bun," Clarke said.

Still, there some customers who are nervous about trying the new flavour because the combination is unexpected.

"I just can't wrap my head around it. I just saw it in the showcase and I'm like 'Is that actual bun and actual cheese in ice cream'? Maybe I can see with the bun part because there is cookie in the cookie and cream, so alright fine. But cheese? Mi nuh know bout dat," said the customer adding that she was still willing to sample the flavour.
