Mother-daughter duo arrested, charged with murder

A mother and daughter from Roses Valley District in St Elizabeth have been taken into police custody following their involvement in a murder in the parish on April 1. 

They have been identified as: 24-year-old Amanda Stewart and 43-year-old Lisa Muir.

According to police reports, about 2:45 a.m., Stewart and her spouse, 23-year-old farmer, Francois Vassell, were engaged in a dispute that escalated into a physical altercation.

Stewart's mother Muir joined the altercation, armed with a machete.

As a result, Vassell sustained multiple wounds and was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Their court dates are being arranged.
