As she watched a team of detectives and morgue workers walk through her yard yesterday, a senior citizen exhaled deeply before stating that she had no idea that the explosions she heard a day earlier were the sounds of death.

At least 30 spent shell casings were recovered in a gully on Slipe Road, Kingston, beside the bodies of two identified men.

"I was sitting right here on mi verandah and I hear a lot of sounds like loud banging, but I didn't know it was gunshot because mi nuh use to dem sound deh. Is country mi come from and I don't normally hear shots. Mi frighten when mi see police a pass and hear people say body find in di gully," she said.

The St Andrew Central police report that residents alerted the police yesterday morning after stumbling upon the bodies. The men had what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. A motive has not been established for the killings.

A man said he also heard explosions on Sunday morning but thought someone beating zinc.

"And because mi never hear anyone say dem find anybody yesterday (Sunday) mi not even did memba. Is a man a go empty him garbage mi see a run come say two man lay down stiff stone dead down inna di gully. Mi couldn't believe when mi see dem. Mi never see dem man deh from mi born," the resident said.

Both men were laying face down and appear to be in their late 20s or early 30s. One of them, who had a dreadlocked hair style, is of fair complexion with a tattoo on the left hand. He was clad in a black T-shirt, blue shorts and a pair of black sneakers. A white fabric mask was also seen beside his body. The other man is of dark complexion and was wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts. A black mask was observed close to his head.

A unit from the York Park Fire Station assisted with removing the bodies from the gully.
