Holness rings in new school year with students
Back-to-school got off to a smooth start on Monday, with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and scores of parents in the Corporate Area accompanying children during the commute to school.
In an effort to connect with the nation’s youth, Holness; Daryl Vaz, Minister of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport; and Senator Dana Morris Dixon, Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, took a Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus from the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre to the bus stop at Jamaica College.
The Half-Way Tree to Papine route, along Hope Road and Old Hope Road, is also used by students from Mona High School and Papine High School.
Students were able to interact with all the government ministers who offered them their best wishes for the 2024/25 academic year.
As part of her welcome for the new academic year, Fayval Williams, Minister of Education and Youth is making several stops within her constituency at Mountain View Primary School, Hope Valley Experimental School, Randolph Lopez School of Hope and Jamaica College.
She will also travel to Ocho Rios Primary School in the parish of St Ann.
