Taxi man allegedly crashes into police, pinning cop between two vehicles
The Kingston Central police have charged a taxi operator for allegedly driving his car into a policeman, pinning him against his car and the cop's service vehicle on Wednesday.
Shaun Gray, 36, of Windsor Height, Central Village, Spanish Town, St Catherine is charged with assault at common law and assault occasioning bodily harm.
Police reports say that about 1:18 p.m. in downtown Kingston, the policeman was on traffic duty in the area, with a motorcycle as a service vehicle.
He reportedly observed Gray who was driving a Honda Stepwagon who committed a traffic breach.
On seeing the breach, the policeman approached Gray, however, he allegedly drove the vehicle into the path of the policeman, while using it to pin the policeman between the two vehicles.
This resulted in the lawman being injured on his right foot and right thumb.
The policeman defended himself and fired shots in the direction of Gray; however, he was not hit.
Gray then allegedly escaped.
He was caught sometime later in the afternoon and was charged with the offences.
He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, March 26.
