Tourist fined for breaching Firearm’s Act

A United States of America national was last Friday sentenced and fined $350,000 or 30 days in prison after he pleaded guilty to unauthorised possession of ammunition.

The man, Joshua Logan, 29, a salesman of Atlanta, Georgia, was charged following an incident in Montego Bay, St James on September 27.

Reports from the Freeport police are that about 11 a.m., security officers were conducting routine screening on out-going passengers when Logan was summoned. After a physical search of his black travelling bag fifteen 9mm rounds of ammunition was discovered. Logan was arrested and charged for breaches of the Firearm's Act. He was placed before the St James Parish Court on the same day. Logan pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined $350,000 or 30 days in prison.
