Fake gun lands security guard in hot water
A security guard was arrested by the police after a black imitation firearm was allegedly found inside his bedroom.
The guard, Javaun Brown, 22, who also answers to the name 'Jay', is of a Lemon Lane, Olympic Gardens, Kingston 11 address. The cops said that the imitation gun was found during an operation on December 28.
Reports indicate that between the hours of 1:10 p.m. and 2:20 p.m., lawmen carried out a raid at the premises occupied by Brown, during which a thigh holster containing a black imitation firearm was found inside the bedroom.
He was subsequently arrested and charged. The security guard will be placed before the Corporate Area Gun Court at a date to be announced.
Under Jamaica's newly update Firearm Act, the punishment to be meted out to persons for use or possession of a real firearm or imitation firearm in certain circumstances is similar. This offence attracts a fine or imprisonment of not less than 15 years or more than 25 years, as the court considers appropriate.
