Westmoreland resident chopped, shot by assailants

Lawmen assigned to the Westmoreland Police Division have made an arrest in the chopping and stabbing of a man in an incident on Top Lincoln main road, Grange Hill, on December 21, 2024.

Charged is 27-year-old Delano Bantan, otherwise called 'Shatta,' of Top Lincoln district. He has been charged with wounding with intent and using a firearm to commit a felony. Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that at 9:30 p.m., the complainant was standing alone on the roadway when he was pounced upon by Bantan and another man armed with a handgun and a machete respectively. Bantan held on to the man, while the other man used the machete to inflict chop wounds to him. Bantan later shot the man, before fleeing the scene with his accomplice. The man was later assisted to the hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

A report was made to the police, and Bantan was listed as a person of interest. He later turned himself in to the police with his attorney. He was later charged after a question-and-answer session.
