Calabar High School, with Christopher Campbell as outgoing captain, were recently presented with the 2014-15 McKay Security Jamaica Taekwon-Do High School Martial Arts League trophy by Jamaica Taekwon-Do Association president, Arthur Barrows, in a ceremony at the Red Hills Road school.

Calabar claimed their fourth consecutive hold on the title after winning six of seven matches in the new-look 2014-2015 season, anchored by impressive performances from Campbell and Trevor Webb Jr.

The defending champions, completed by Tye McKay, Naval Mills, Andre Wint and Trevon Richards, wrapped their season with victory in the Jamaica Taekwon-Do Academy Open for a 6-1 league win. They entered the last tournament with an unassailable 5-1 lead after turning back Kingston College 3-1 in the Jamaica Seido Open at University of Technology.

Calabar's only slip of the new-look season was in February's Jamaica Superstars Martial Arts Open when Jamaica College leveled the series 1-1 at G.C. Foster College in Spanish Town.

They had opened the league with a win the Jamaica Taekwon-Do Association Junior Open. After losing to Jamaica College, they saw off challengers at the Shai-Tai, Taekwon-Do, Ningen and Seido opens.

Calabar, Kingston College, Wolmer's, Jamaica College, St George's College, Hydel High and Cornwall College are participating teams.

The league has been credited with the success of Jamaica's junior fighters on home soil at last August's International Taekwon-Do Federation World Cup, followed by gold-medal performances at the Pan-Am Championships in Paraguay.
