Jamaican international Kemar 'Taxi' Lawrence may be in search of another team in Major League Soccer (MLS). According to reports from United States football writer Ives Galarcep and mlssoccer.com, the 27-year-old Reggae Boy has requested a trade from his club, New York Red Bulls, expressing dissatisfaction with his current deal, which has another two years left guaranteed and an option for an additional year. Reports are that the club has refused to negotiate a new deal, widening the divide between the two parties.

According to the report, a source has indicated that the club has no interest in trading the player.

Although Lawrence missed an early part of the season for the Red Bulls because of injury, he still managed to have a great year, which saw him being named an MLS All Star for the first time in his career. Since his move from Harbour View in 2015, he has been heralded as one of the best full backs in the league. He helped the Red Bulls win the Supporters Shield twice in his five years with the club, in 2015 and 2018, the trophy given to the regular-season champions. He was also named to the MLS Best XI squad last season.

The Red Bulls were eliminated from the MLS play-offs in the first round by Philadelphia Union, which features Jamaica-starting goalkeeper Andre Blake.
