AMONG the scores of spectators that descended upon the grounds of the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday night to witness home team Arnett Gardens pocket $1 million cash prize following their 3-2 penalty shoot-out victory over Waterhouse in the Boom El Clasico was community favourite and dancehall artiste Romario 'Laa Lee' Ricketts.

The entertainer, a former Arnett Gardens player, describes himself as a football lover who turned to music as a career path.

"I'm a big football fan. I'm a former player for the Arnett Gardens Football Club and now I'm Laa Lee, the entertainer," said Ricketts.

The 25-year-old who is known for hits such as Leggo the Bird and Dirt Bounce says he is grateful for what the sport of football has done for the sometimes volatile 'Jungle' community.

"Football is the heart of the community, it glues us together and sadly divides us at times, but it mostly brings the community together," he added.

The entertainer, a big admirer of the English Premier League, sees current fifth-place team Manchester United as the one to beat this season.

"Manchester United is the greatest club ever. We are going to win, despite how they're playing now, but that's how football is, it nuh live a nobody yard.

"We are looking at top four. Top four could mean, first, second, third, fourth but it's the top prize we are aiming for," said the entertainer.

The Waterhouse-Arnett Gardens clash, dubbed the Boom El Clasico, was played six days before the start of the upcoming 2022/23 Jamaica Premier League season which kicks off on Sunday, October 23.
