Shortwood United have "distanced" themselves from allegations made by the outgoing president of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), Wayne Shaw, that they authored a letter circulated widely on social media, accusing the administration of malpractices.

In an interview with STAR Sports yesterday, president of Shortwood, Dwight Ferguson, claims they are unaware of the origins of that letter and was adamant that they have a good relationship with the executive of KSAFA. He reaffirmed this in an official letter that was sent later to KSAFA.

According to Ferguson, members of Shortwood are bewildered by the allegations by Shaw.

"I mean I was floored and I am speaking as the president of the club, I was flabbergasted, beyond my wits," he said.

Ferguson stated that another member of Shortwood's executive and himself were at the fiery meeting Tuesday evening, during which Shaw told members of KSAFA that he will be stepping down in two weeks.

Ferguson emphasised that members of Shortwood want to continue to help football in the country grow by being affiliated with KSAFA.

"My first move is to ensure that we maintain the relationship that we have had with KSAFA going some 50 years or thereabout. I enjoy good relationship with council, good relationship with the secretariat, good relationship with the administration.

"I have to maintain relationship with all things football, any differences we have are on the ground, on the playfield, but when it comes to the administration of football in Jamaica, especially, we all need to be supporting each other, clubs supporting clubs, federation supporting federation and so forth because we have to build out this thing. Too many youths depend on it because that's all they know, football," Ferguson said.
