JFF saddened by the death of former massage therapist Camago

The Jamaica Football Federation is expressing sadness at the passing of former Reggae Boyz massage therapist Jose Luis Camago.

The Brazilian worked in the backroom of former Reggae Boyz technical director, his countryman Rene Simoes, who guided Jamaica to their first FIFA World Cup in France in 1988. Camago died over the weekend.

According to a release by the JFF, Camago was an important member of Simoes' original coaching team, who worked with different team doctors to get injured players returning to full fitness in the shortest possible time.

"Jamaica's football benefited immensely from his expertise and dedication. He worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the players were fit and ready when called," commented JFF President Michael Ricketts in the release.

"I want to extend profound condolences to his son Pablo, his other family members and friends, and say a final thank you for all that he did for our football programme," he continued.

Camago's son, Pablo, also served with the national team in a similar capacity after Jose returned to Brazil.
