Molynes United came from two goals down in the 10th minute to beat Vere Phoenix 3-2 in the lone Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game yesterday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

The game was the first in over a week in the competition. Last weekend's games were postponed after referees withdrew their services after they said they were owed close to $8 million. On Tuesday, Professional Football Association CEO Owen Hill said all the monies owed to the referees was paid to them and they were ready to resume duties.

Yesterday's win lifted Molynes one place to 11th on 26 points, and coach Jermaine Thomas was elated.

"We went down early. Two goals. They (players) really fought. We started slowly but showed character in coming back, and getting the last one (goal) in the 90th plus, that will do us a world of good for our confidence going forward. So overall it was a good result," he told Knockinz tv.

Robinho Gordon got Vere Phoenix off to the best of starts, with a goal just two minutes into the contest. The wing back then extended Vere Phoenix's advantage moments later, when he scored again in the 10th minute.

Nickache Murray got Molynes back into the match with a goal three minutes later and Marlon Pennicooke tied the score one minute into the second half to set up an exciting finish.

With the game evenly poised, striker Jason Wright stole all three points for Molynes when he struck in time added.

Vere Phoenix stayed second from bottom with 19 points, one place and one point above last-place Humble Lion.
