Mexico rout Reggae Girlz 3-0

April 07, 2025

KANSAS CITY, Missouri:

Mexico's women's national team delivered a commanding performance by cruising to a 3-0 victory over Jamaica in their international friendly at the CPKC Stadium on Saturday.

A blistering 14-minute spell in the first half saw El Tri Femenil net three times, with Alexia Delgado 23', Christina Burkenroad 32', and Rebeca Bernal 37' all finding the back of the net.

From the opening whistle, Mexico controlled possession and dictated play, eventually breaking through when Delgado slotted home the opener. Burkenroad doubled the lead with a composed finish before Bernal added a third just five minutes later, effectively sealing the result before halftime.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Jamaica's coach, Deon Burton, acknowledged his team's shortcomings.

"We had a quick little debrief and we all agreed that we were a little bit off it in some areas of the game. Everyone held their hands up and took responsibility for individual errors. But like I said, it's a learning experience, and we move on to the next game."

Burton added that the Reggae Girlz would review the match to correct mistakes before their next outing.

"We're going to go back and look at the tape and see where we made mistakes and try to learn from them. That's all we can do, learn and move on."

The teams will square off again tomorrow in Houston, Texas.
