Fast-rising reggae singer-songwriter D-Medz debut performance at Rebel Salute will go down as one of the show's best. The Eppjam recording artiste released his Empower EP in early 2015, and embarked on an intensive promotional blitz, performing at some of the island's marquee entertainment events, which earned him the Rebel Salute's booking.

He took the stage minutes to 10 p.m., amid an explosion of fireworks, and gave a blistering performance to the capacity crowd at the Grizzly Plantation Cove in St Ann.

"They say first impression lasts a lifetime and this is my debut performance at Rebel (Salute), so I had to give my fans a special treat," he told The WEEKEND Star.

"It was real team effort from management, harmonicas, dancers, band members, and, of course, the impressively, appreciative Rebel Salute crowd."

Fellow Clarendon artiste Celcius said D-Medz performance overshadowed a lot of the big names on the show. "Sanchez took Friday night. Beres Hammond took Saturday, but D-Medz delivered an outstanding performance ... well done," he said.

Following his performance, D-Medz was mobbed by fans, journalists, and several patrons.
