Rapper Jakal has teamed up with popular sound system owner/producer ZJ Rush to release the visuals for his new single, 'Love to Love You', which features recording artiste Vershon.

Jakal, who served 10 years behind bars in the US before being deported to Jamaica, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the song is dedicated to his ex-girlfriend who remained loyal during his incarceration until he was deported.

"I just wanted to make it known how I feel and that I appreciate and understand the situation we are in. She stayed loyal to me while I was doing my time, and it takes a lot of nerve and strength to do that," he said. "The relationship is over now and she has moved on with her life, but this song will set the record straight."

Jakal also revealed that her decision to move on was inevitable, since he was removed from the US and was forced to leave everything he owned.

"It would be unfair for me to expect her to stay with me even after I got deported. She has to move on with her life and I might not like that, but I have to respect that because she did give me loyalty when I needed it the most," he said.

The music video will see Jakal employing the services of a Jamaican obeah man to win back his lover's heart.

The bit of black magic inserted in the visuals may rub some viewers the wrong way, but ZJ Rush, who directed the video, told The WEEKENDSTAR that obeah is Jamaican culture, and viewers should do a little research into their African history before judging the production.

"People will always criticise everything, that's fine. That's the point of critical art. As long as I engage people's minds and imaginations and, hopefully, start some interesting conversations, then I would have achieved my goal with the obeah and demon concept. I want to play my part in pushing the limits of what a music video from Jamaica could be," ZJ Rush said.

The song is being released under the label Yrushmusic and Kisko Hype.
