Kappa making dancehall moves

Up-and-coming dancehall artiste Kappa lives by the words of Kenyan actor, comedian and stuntman Deep Roy.

He believes inspiration comes from within and says one has to be positive if they expect good things to happen.

As he looks to venture into the music business, Kappa has found himself on a project with some established dancehall acts, including Kranium.

Kappa recently teamed up with noted producer CJ The Chemist for the single Fall Over on the hit-bound Dem Nuh Like We rhythm, which also features ZJ Liquid and comedian-turned-artiste Noah Powa.

Speaking with THE STAR, the entertainer dubbed Kranium as one of his many musical icons.

This is not the first time both have crossed paths, as the young entertainer found himself opening for Kranium at one of his concerts recently.

The opportunity saw him performing alongside a plethora of stars at various events, including Hot 97's Pon Di Reggae & Soca Tip live show.

Born Courtney Linton to Jamaican parents in Brooklyn, New York, Kappa was intent on becoming a success from his formative years working with producer Kheilstone in Queens.

CREATING A BUZZ

A few years ago, the aspiring artiste created a buzz with the release of the track Yardie.

The song was an ode to Jamaica in which he sang proudly about his roots.

He then released a 42-track mixtape titled Sex, Drugs and Dancehall, which featured a song titled House Pon Di Hill.

According to the artiste, the latter was much talked about in the streets and gave him further recognition.

Kappa said he is grateful for all the doors that have been opened for him thus far.

"All of what is happening now are things I have dreamt about. The more I focus and work on my career, is the more I see things manifest into reality," he said.

Currently promoting his single My Talent on the Delly Ranx-produced Cotton Swab rhythm, Kappa is also completing his debut EP.
