Tanya Stephens shows Bill Cosby no mercy
Controversial entertainer Tanya Stephens has always been straightforward and vocal on issues she is passionate about. She has never been one to mince words or 'walk on eggshells' when she voices her opinions on touchy subjects, even if her opinion gets her unfavourable responses from the public.
As news spread on Tuesday that veteran actor Bill Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years for rape, Stephens took to her social media account to give her two cents on the now-concluded matter. Stephens took heart to statements being made on social media where persons seemed to sympathise with the convicted rapist.
Stephens, who in 2016 revealed that she was a victim of rape, seemingly had no love for Cosby, despite the fact that persons were expressing concern about how he would manage behind bars. In a post on her official Instagram page, the It's A Pity singer urged people to stop acting as if a crime wasn't committed and realise that there are consequences for people's actions.
"Stop acting like it's hard to understand. I saw someone else ask, 'But he's old and blind ... what will he do in prison?' To that I can apathetically respond: 'tek b..dy helplessly like his victims," she expressed.
Her statement no doubt drew the attention of some social media users. Some users expressed disappointment with the singer's reasoning and sought to point out that the only reason Cosby was convicted was because of his race.
Clearly in the mood to address some of the sentiments being shared, Stephens responded to some of the comments regarding Cosby being sentenced because he is black. The singer said that the actor got exactly what he deserved, as he was on trial for rape and not race.
"His sentencing was about his crime, you get it straight," she said to one user. "That is why black men shouldn't rape? ... ," she said to another who suggested that had Cosby been white he would not have been jailed.
