She calls herself the better half of actor, comedian and media personality Christopher 'Johnny' Daley. Sophia Smith-Daley has had the privilege to build a relationship with someone that she has known for almost all of her life, having met him in drama school at the age of 10.

Sophia remembers watching her little friend Johnny in the local television series Lime Tree Lane.

"It was interesting to see someone I went to school with 'making it big' on television," Sophia said. "I liked the character, who was mischievous; it was a true representation of who he was and still is."

Sophia says Johnny and her were always been friendly with each other, although they were not necessarily seeing each other.

"In terms of the dating side of things, that started after running into each other in the supermarket (many years ago)," she said. "He came to me at the point when my father was in the hospital, and I became witness to his caring ways. He was there with me at the hospital every day, a very affectionate person, and I loved that about him."

Next January makes eight years that the two became a pair, which she says was not the result of any romantic kind of bait. They dated, spoke about marriage, and went for it. Sophia said maintaining a relationship and raising a family with a comedian, two teenagers and a seven-year-old isn't all fun and jokes.

"Ups and downs are always there in the relationship; we have lots more serious conversations than we do have funny ones. He is not an everyday joker."

She said that some of the things Johnny may say about a serious matter may come across as funny because of his natural tendency to open his eyes wide and speak with expression, but she reads him like a book.

Sophia manages all of the comedian's affairs, wearing the badge of manager and certified project management consultant for Johnny Live Productions for the last two years.

"I give him structure," she said.

"I think I am better suited for the job than anyone else who doesn't know him, and who would not be able to understand what goes on outside of his work and career. I understand his life and the impact it will have on other facets of his life," she explained.

Sophia's work with her comical other half made her rethink the direction that her own career was going in she, said.

"I was more corporate and Chris was like 'you have to get over your fears', telling me that I was so good at my nine-to-five that I could manage entrepreneurship."

So along with her role as head cook and bottle washer, she embarked on establishing her business, Golden Closet Intimates and Body Boutique - a professional bra-fitting and lingerie store.

"It was something that I am passionate about, and everything that comes about happens to me at some life-changing time in my life. While I was pregnant I could not find brassieres, it made me uncomfortable, and that's when I started looking into the whole lingerie and professional bra-fitting services," she said.

"We are growing our businesses together, and although I am not sure that anything is called balanced, we have created harmony in the various aspects of our life," she concluded.
