Immperial Alley Cat releases fifth studio album

Veteran deejay Immperial Alley Cat, who found great success in the '90s, has returned with a contemporary sound as he promotes his fifth studio album, Dancehall Knowledge Volume 4, and his latest single, Good Looking.

Known for hits such as Ain't No Gal and Brag and Boast, Immperial Alley Cat said that what has contributed to his longevity is his ability to evolve as an artiste.

"If yuh hear how mi a deejay right now, you could never tell dat me is an artiste who literally do songs from way back in the '90s, because my style is so fresh and mi evolve with the time," he shared. He also identified his ability to dabble in other genres of music.

"Me is a spiritual artiste. Me can do songs inna every category when it comes to music...me hit inna every category of the music, and that is one of the things that contribute to my longevity in music," he said.

The deejay said he was inspired to pen Good Looking in recognition to women after witnessing how much attention to detail they spend when attiring themselves.

"It came from going to a lot of runway shows and parties and just seeing how the ladies put themselves together. Every girl wants to look like a dolly, every girl wants to look cute, every girl wants to look beautiful. How the girl them put time and effort in them appearance and looks, me just compliment them in this song," he shared.

Immperial Alley Cat said that there are two features on the album, Need The Cheddar, featuring Chico, and Buzz Worthy, featuring Nevaeh, his 11-year old daughter.

The album also carries songs such as Champion and Better Deeds that convey conscious messages and address social ills currently affecting people in the world.

He said that the inspiration for this album came from his desire to continue what he started with his previous projects. His last album featured songs that served up positive vibe and passed along knowledge to the masses.

"Some of the songs are very personal to me, as they reflect some of the experiences that I had throughout my life," he said. Currently, the deejay is working on a music video for Good Looking which will be in rotation soon.
