Video vixen Trisha Burke is concerned about the absence of a union or regulator in the music industry to look out for the best interest of performers like her.

Burke, who first garnered attention from doing Instagram live videos and doing promotions for clothing stores online, has made appearances in music videos such as IQ's Soca Remix and QQ's Pretty Ba**az. She reasoned that some video vixens may experience challenges navigating the business on their own without proper representation.

"The biggest challenge I would say is most people do not want to pay you the amount that you require," she said. "We have no union, hence there is no protection in terms of payment for work. I work on my own." Burke reasoned that video vixens should be given much more respect because of the value they add.

"Without someone in the video, there wouldn't be any details as to what the video is about," she said.

She said, in some instances, no formal contracts are signed for the services of vixens, which may add to the challenge.

"I just work. For example, I will get a call and turn up and work and stuff like that," she said.

Despite her concerns, she does not consider it to be a competitive industry.

"I would definitely say everyone is actually doing their thing and whatever is meant for me can't be for someone else. So I do not think it is a competitive business. As long as you get the exposure and you do your best at what you do, you''ll definitely be in the spotlight and get the opportunity to feature in more videos," she said.
