Man pleads guilty to

robbing assistant DPP

The man, who allegedly robbed a female Crown Counsel at the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate?s Court recently, has pleaded guilty to the crime.

He is Christopher Burton, 22, from Spanish Town, St Catherine.

When Burton appeared before Resident Magistrate Tara Reid-Carr on Friday, he pleaded guilty to simple larceny. He was remanded until November 23 when he is to be sentenced.

Allegations are that on September 22, the complainant who is a Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, went to work at the Spanish Town courthouse. It is alleged that a man walked in and asked her for money.

The man, who had on a mask, was given $100. He then hurried from the compound.

A report was made to the police and following an investigation, Burton was picked up by the police on October 5 after he was seen begging at the courthouse.

He had no legal representation when he appeared in court.
