Two men on murder charges are among six prisoners who escaped from the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay yesterday.

The police have launched a manhunt for 30-year-old labourer Kelvin Hodge of Barrett Town, who is charged with four counts of murder, and Stephens of Dias of Hanover, who is also on a murder charge.

Also on the run are labourer, Randy Murray of Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, who was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, and higgler Marcus Robinson, who was also charged with illegal possession of firearm.

Gregory Roberts, who is on a robbery with aggravation charge, and 26-year-old Shaniel Luton of Farm Heights in Montego Bay are the two other escapees.

Members of the public are being asked by the police to be on the lookout for the escaped prisoners, and also to report to the police if they observe strange looking men in their area.

SSP Steve McGregor says it was negligence on the part of the police which allowed the men to escape. He promised a thorough investigation into the matter.
