Woman shoots robber during hold-up
A courageous senior lady is now counting her blessings following a harrowing robbery attempt in downtown, Kingston recently, which ended with her discharging her licensed firearm bringing one of her attackers to justice.
According to reports, the victim was conducting business along a section of Orange Street near the Captain's Bakery when she was pounced upon by two men.
It is said that one of the men brandished a knife which he put to her throat threateningly, demanding her valuables. It is said that the men took a gold chain in which the victim was wearing and attempted to make a hasty getaway.
fearless woman
Unbeknown to the hoodlums, what was presumably thought to be an easy target, was far from being so. Following the initial confrontation, the fearless woman defended her possessions, pulling her licensed firearm injuring one of her attackers. The other suspect made a swift retreat. He is reportedly still-at-large.
The injured man was handed over to the police thereafter.
Superintendent Michael Scott, head of the Kingston Central police, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the attacker was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) where he was treated and released into police custody. He was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery with aggravation and possession of an offensive weapon.
The would-be robber is not only nursing his wounds as he awaits his court appearance, but is also presumably suffering from a bruised ego having brought a knife to a gunfight.
The licensed firearm holder is widely being lauded by persons aware of the incident for her bravery.
The identity of the accused man has not been released. Investigations continue.
