Woman charged for forged documents

A woman who attempted to use forged documents when retrieving her car from the police pound pleaded guilty to fraud charges when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Daniece Cameron pleaded guilty to uttering forged documents and attempting to obtain vehicle by forged documents.

The accused allegedly went to the police with documents from an insurance company on January 7 to recover her vehicle which had been seized last year.

According to the police, reports revealed that the documents were not legitimate. Cameron was subsequently arrested and charged by the police.

The accused told the court that she had asked a relative to take care of the documents and was unaware that they were forged.

Cameron was fined $30,000 or six months for uttering forged documents, and $20,000 or six months' imprisonment for attempting to obtain the vehicle with forged documents.
