March 15, 2016

A man was stabbed to death metres from two primary schools and a stone's throw from Jamaica's parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place along Duke Street, Kingston, where the St George's Girls' Primary and Infant School, and St Aloysius Primary are located.

Gordon House, the seat of the nation's parliament is in the same vicinity.

When THE STAR arrived on the scene, the man’s lifeless body was in clear view of the children who stood at their fences looking on as police processed the crime scene.

According to the police,  the man, known only as 'Teddy', was attacked and stabbed.

“We have someone in custody but we are unaware of his role because there is the possibility that more than one person was involved in the stabbing,” said a police corporal.

The blood splattered scene was filled with curious onlookers who said they saw the incident unfold before their eyes.

“We see him a run come from up the road then a man just come out of a car and stabbed him right inna the heart, pull it (the knife) out and run off,” said one onlooker.

Another onlooker, who said she saw 'Teddy' running after he was stabbed, says the person who chased him had accused him of stealing a bicycle.
