The St Catherine police are working assiduously to nab the person or persons behind the vicious attack on an 18-year-old in Portmore, St Catherine, last Tuesday.

The teenager is the son of Jamaica-born, New York-based businesswoman Ingrid Murray. In an Instagram post, she expressed her relief that he was safely back home.

"The scariest thought is that I could have lost my good son. Thank God he's home now and all I want to do is to hold him and never let him go," she posted.

The teen was reportedly kidnapped, beaten and robbed, but managed to escape his perpetrators. He was later found by members of the Jamaica Defence Force by the sea. The teen was escorted to the Greater Portmore Police Station where he gave an official statement.

Head of the St Catherine South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, told THE STAR that like other investigations, this occurrence is being treated very seriously by the lawmen.

"We have not had any arrest just yet, but we are taking this investigation very seriously. All the relevant statements have been collected. Among the latest that we have is a composite sketch of what the possible suspect looks like," he said.

"As we speak, the investigators are out in the field because they are checking on some other information in relation to video footage and so on," the senior cop added.
