VCB plans to keep going
Veronica Campbell-Brown said that she has no plans to retire anytime soon, as her body is not showing any signs of slowing down.
Speaking after the launch of the third staging of her VCB Foundation 5K Run/Walk yesterday, Campbell-Brown said that she still feels strong as she looks to start her 16th season competing at the senior level.
"I don't feel like I am slowing down. I feel strong and I feel good," Campbell-Brown, who produced times of 10.84 and 22.60 last season, said.
HIGH LEVEL
The two-time 200m Olympic gold medalist attributes 'taking care her body' to her ability to compete at high level for so long.
"The key to longevity is to take care of your body. Sleeping is important. We need at least eight hours per day and eating, we have to be careful what we eat," Campbell-Brown pointed out.
She said: "I have been blessed to be able to be running for so many years and it's not something that I take for granted. I really appreciate the gift that God has given me."
She implore athletes who want to stay in the sports long to pay attention to rest and nutrition.
"We have to put clean stuffs in our bodies. And Jamaica is ideal for eating right because we have all this organic food," Campbell-Brown said.
