Foreigners, dancers flock Uptown Mondays

Over the years, Uptown Mondayz has grown to be one of the hotspots on the dancehall entertainment scene in Jamaica.

Recently, THE STAR went there to capture scenes and moments from the event.

It's a regular sight to see dancers like Shakespeare, Energy, dancer-turned-artiste Chi Chi Ching, and veteran dancer Shelly Belly dancing in unison or in dance clashes to rev up the entertainment engine of the corporate-area party.

It is also common for foreigners from Europe, Asia, and North America to flock the event.

"It's great vibes. I thoroughly enjoyed myself," said Ale Camara, a dancer from Poland, as she got her groove on.

When selector Boom Boom took over the consoles, the vibes in the venue got 'super crazy', and the 'skankaz' were let loose. But Boom Boom didn't leave out the women, and he gave them their fair share of 'gyal songs'.

Also giving their musical contributions were the likes of Harry Hype Boom Boom's right hand and Hotta Ball.

Celebrities like Beenie Man, Fambo, and dancehall selector Ricky Trooper were present at the party.

Interestingly, the JAH JAH (Jamaicans Abroad Helping Jamaicans At Home) Foundation was on hand giving free HIV tests and results, as well as blood pressure screening. This is done once a year at Uptown Mondayz.
