Up-and-coming dancehall artiste Jaiidon Legacy is finding his quest to create his own spark in dancehall a bit worrisome as he is often mistaken for MoBay star Rygin King.

Jaiidon told THE STAR, "Everywhere mi go inna the world, people dem a trick dem self. From people see me, dem want picture or autograph. Mi go Canada fi the first weh day and as me pull up at the airport, people asking if a nuh last week mi did deh ya. Mi haffi tell dem a the first mi fly go Canada."

According to Jaiidon, he does not see it as disrespect, but he is not comfortable with it.

"People and people can look alike. When him go on stage the first time and people see him, a mi phone start blow up. People from all bout a say dem watch me on TV. Basically, a from last year when him get the break this a beat me," Jaiidon said.

Receiving insults

He said it's one thing for people to think he's Rygin King, but it's the insults he receives when he attempts to enlighten people.

He said, "It (the image mix-up) hide my true self because dem nuh see me as Jaiidon, dem see me as Rygin. When I tell people is not him, dem insult me and say me hype and mi not a people person. To make matters worse, I tell dem I am Jaiidon Legacy, and because him sing bout Legacy, dem say mi a try throw dem off."

Jaiidon told THE STAR that he has walked into events and the selectors have paused the music to 'big him up', thinking it's Rygin King.

Nevertheless, the St Thomas native says he has stuck to his game plan and is not about to let up on the strides he and his team at Inntown Records have been making.

"The video for my song Money is out and doing well. I did a song called Cash for Up North Records and my collaboration Like You featuring MiaKingston about to drop. The video was shot recently. It a go shot. No Joke," he said.
