Social media personality Queen Ladi Gangsta has sought to justify her decision to sneak out of a hospital in order to attend an entertainment event on Tuesday night.

Queenie has been hospitalised since Sunday receiving treatment for a condition she describes as a cyst that has appeared on her face, which she says causes her to look "awful".

The entertainer was booked to host Boobs & Booze summer finale at Manor Centre in St Andrew on Tuesday night. Instead of remaining on her hospital bed, the bubbly Queenie donned a black mesh outfit and turned up at the venue to entertain her fans.

"Mi put on a mask and go perform because di people dem did done pay mi already. Mi escape outta the hospital and when mi come back the entire hospital a look for me. When mi come back dem never appreciate say mi leave, but mi just have to do what mi have to do," she said.

The donning of the mask by the Double Tap singer was not merely for fashion but more so to cover an area of her face that has been of concern to physicians. The entertainer said she checked into the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) after developing an allergic reaction to a bee sting on August 19.

"It started off with like three little pimples on mi jaw and then it just take time fester up. One morning mi wake up and mi two eyes dem lock down and then mi jaw just get big over on one side. It just scary suh mi did just a hide and a hold it and seh it a guh disappear," Queenie told THE STAR.

She continued: "When it start get worse and mi say mi nah stay home and dead, mi scream out. When mi see di big black mark inna mi face mi start wonder if mi face a guh come back, suh mi start bawl."

Queenie said that the doctors at UHWI, having conducted a series of tests, have determined that the swelling on her face is due to a cyst. She said the physicians have told her that they will "have to attack it from inside and out, and dem have to slit it and take out what them must take out".

Cysts are abnormal, fluid-filled sacs that can develop in tissues in any part of the body. Most cysts are non-cancerous.
